Drumming From the Ground Up

The purpose of this workshop is to build a strong foundation in hand drumming technique and artistry. The workshop is intended for beginner to intermediate drummers.

Participants will explore various universal and contemporary rhythms. They will also have the chance to explore basic rhythm theory in order to better understand various rhythmic structures.

This workshop is for people who want to play hand drums recreationally (i.e., at a drum circle); play with other musicians in a social setting; would benefit from learning World rhythms to add to their repertoire; and who may want to get involved with a culturally specific drumming group.

Registration for this five-week workshop is $125 (plus GST) and includes all five classes in the series. The workshop runs Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 PM, February 15-March 15.

Note that masks are mandatory throughout the RCA, including during classes in the SunFM room. Masks may only be removed temporarily, while patrons are actively eating or drinking.
