West Coast Swing Dance

West Coast Swing is an incredible dance that combines different dance forms into a freestyle-improv partner dance that can change and adapt to different genres of music. West Coast Swing originates from Blues and progresses through country music, contemporary, R&B, soul, hip-hop, and rap as trends of pop culture change. What can't you do with a dance designed for improv? Join instructor Luke Jukes for an introduction to this distinctive dance style!

Registration for this four-week course is $60 (plus GST), and includes all four sessions. The course runs Tuesdays, March 8-March 29, 7-9 PM.

PLEASE NOTE: you must register with a partner.

About the Instructor
I'm Luke Jukes, a Vision Impaired Person and an up-and-coming West Coast Swing Dance Instructor and Community Developer in Kelowna. I started West Coast Swing nine years ago in Vancouver and have been a proud addict ever since. After losing my vision and being forced to shift my career path, I started competing in Seattle's Sea to Sky WCS Convention in 2019 and Vancouver's SwingCover in 2020. We all know what happened next, which led me into a bit of a new path: teaching. I am now a student at Swing Literacy Teacher Development. This is a program created by Myles and Tessa Cunningham-Monroe, two incredible WCS International dance pros based out of Vancouver.

Masks remain mandatory throughout the RCA. Patrons may only remove their masks temporarily, while actively eating or drinking. As well, given that this is a high-intensity activity, patrons are reminded that, per provincial health orders, they must present proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.
