Summer is here and the Rotary Centre for the Arts is throwing open it’s doors and inviting you to spend time in the Cultural District to enjoy some amazing musical talent.

“Live After 5” is a FREE showcase of local professional musicians. This is a “sneak peek” of the upcoming RCA Spotlight Series presented by Tree Brewing, where these local artists will be “opening” for one of 12 fabulous touring acts!  The official RCA Spotlight Series season launch will be held on September 3rd, 2008 at 5pm with entertainment by Blu & Kelly Hopkins.

Entertainment will be held in the glamorous open space of the South Atrium at the Rotary Centre for the Arts; a perfect space for lounging on the grass or enjoying food and beverages from Staccatos Bistro on the open patio!

The beauty and mystery of Po Girl’s music springs from the dynamic bond shared by its two principle singers and writers – Allison Russell and Awna Teixeira.  Hailing from Montreal and Toronto respectively, the interplay between the two stunning performers is truly something to behold.  After honing it relentlessly in 13 countries around the world in the last 12 months, the ladies are set to release a true testament to their bond and to their tremendous growth as writers in the last few years.  Casual Po’ Girl fans may not be ready for what they will hear...

Sunshine Theatre 08-09 Season Launch
 


Season Subscriptions Available Now!

Sunshine Theatre Society is pleased to announce the launch of the new 2008/2009 Sunshine Theatre Season. This year, Sunshine Theatre will be presenting 5 amazing touring performances that you won't want to miss!  Choose from a selection of diverse theatre productions which include everything from intriguing dance performances, a Newfoundland comedy, to a home grown WWII Veteran’s tale.  Bursting with themes of love, memory and laughter, this fantastic season is sure to be enjoyed by all who attend!

Again this year, Sunshine Theatre is offering Season Subscriptions and $10 student tickets. Season Subscriptions are available for purchase for only $140 until November 1st, 2008. From April to October, the Artists@Work invite you to experience the First Thursday Art Crawl at the Rotary Centre for the Arts.  Come in, say hello, and join all of the RCA Resident Artists on the First Thursday of every month from 4:00-7:00pm.  Free food, music and a chance to visit with the participating artists makes this a must attend event!
 
Participating artists include:  Potters Addict, Studio 108; Kelowna Sculptors Network Society, Studio 112; Julia Trops and Livessence Boulevard, Studio 113; Janice Fingado, Studio 203; Ponderosa Spinners and Weavers, Studio 204; Cherie Hanson, Studio 205;  Mal Gagnon, Studio 114 & Tari Dodd-DiBello, Studio 202.
