Billet a Musician!
We have 94 National Youth Orchestra musicians aged 17-20 in need of a good home for the nights of August 9th and 10th. We would like to request your help, and that of your friends, neighbours and other community-minded music lovers. If you have a spare bed or three please call Dawn, Volunteer Coordinator at the Rotary Centre for the Arts at 250-717-5304 or email volcoord@rotarycentreforthearts.com. Please include your name, street address, postal code, phone #, and number of beds you have to offer.

You will not need to feed the musicians, just pick them up at the RCA the evening of Mon, August 9th, return them to the RCA the following morning of Tues, August 10th; and pick them up after the performance that same day Tues, August 10th. Lastly, return them to the RCA in the morning of Wed, August 11th.

Thanks in advance for your help!  We are grateful for your generosity, and will do our best to make this as easy as possible for everyone involved.  It's a free concert on Tuesday night, and you, your family and neighbours can make an enjoyable evening of music, food and fun.

ARTS Picnic is produced in collaboration with the Rotary Centre for the Arts, the Kelowna Art Gallery and the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra.  more

AM 1150's Phil Johnson Joins
Board of Directors

The Rotary Centre for the Arts Board of Directors would like to welcome their newest member, Phil Johnson of Astral Media. Phil is the wonderful voice you hear mornings on AM 1150.

This past season, he has stayed up late on concert evenings at the Rotary Centre for the Arts to announce and moderate the RCA Spotlight Series. Phil enjoys meeting and listening to the touring artists and is enthusiastic about continuing to spread the word about the great things happening at the RCA!

Studio 113: Wrapped and ready to go!

Link to Studio 113
July 1 - 3
10 AM to 6 PM

Wrapped and Ready to Go! is a cooperative effort of the artists in Studio 113, Julia Trops, Anjy Bonten, Trina Ganson and Rebekah Wilkinson. Artists will be on site during the event, and on Canada Day there will be a public live model drawing demonstration from 9-11 am, and again at 2-4 pm.

The goal of the event is to provide accessibility to original art by Okanagan artists, many unknown, with the majority of artworks in this Canada Day/Weekend event being under $113.

Come down to the event because artworks are Wrapped and Ready to Go!

Sage-ing With Creative Spirit
It's "Happening" every Tuesday this summer at the RCA

Sage-ing with Creative Spirit

Sage-ing With Creative Spirit invites you to exercise your creative energy.
Bring a young relative or neighbour (all ages welcome) or come on your own ready for a morning of "playing and creating" together.

Programs are FREE and run 9:30AM - 12noon on Tuesdays in the drawing and painting studio. The studio remains open for free use all day.

July 6th and 13th:
Acclaimed fabric artist Maryann Carlton will lead sessions on making your own fashion piece. Bring a piece of clothing, shoes or a beach tote that you want to personalise with paint.  Low nap materials, jeans, are best. Sample above converts an old second hand man's jacket from value village to a fashion statement.

July 20th and 27th
Feel a creative energy that enlivens you and activates you to " just do it". As you feel the rhythm and hear the energy, the painter within you will come alive in response to the spontaneously composed melodies of Jordan Leibel on keyboard. Jordan sees colours when he composes and you will too.

Located in the heart of Kelowna's Cultural District,
