Catch a variety of wonderful entertainment this month
including performances by the Montréal Guitare Trio, who has
been described as "one of the hottest guitar ensembles in
Canada" by CBC and John Lee Sanders, one of Kelowna's very
own hottest jazz & blues musicians.
If you prefer theatre over the concert series, we haven't
forgotten about you! Antoine Feval, featuring the über
talented British stand-up comedian and actor Chris Gibbs
will be presented in the Mary Irwin Theatre through February
11-14th at 8pm.
Winter courses are also still running throughout
February, with a variety courses available for registration,
including classes in jewelry making with Janice Fingado and
pottery classes with Bonnie Anderson of Potters Addict. To

comedian Chris Gibbs, Antoine Feval is a one man
comic tour-de-force that introduces us to Barnaby
Gibbs - a kind-hearted but thoroughly dim-witted and
clueless young Englishman who inadvertently becomes
the Dr. Watson-like sidekick to brilliant detective
Antoine Feval.
Unaware that his new partner is actually the
master thief who's been robbing the city blind, good
guy Barnaby eagerly recounts his adventures in a
story full of twists, turns, and gadzooks moments!
In 2005 Antoine Feval premiered at the Winnipeg
Fringe Festival were it sold out every performance
and won the 'Best of the Fest' award. Following the
successful debut, the performance was held over at
the Edmonton Fringe, and then went on to sell out at
the 2006 Toronto Fringe. More recently the show was
performed in New Zealand, New Mexico and
Massachusetts.
Chris Gibbs is a writer, stand-up comedian and
actor based in Toronto. His other one-man shows
include 'Gibberish' and 'The Power of Ignorance'.
He's also the co-author of 'The Power of Ignorance:
14 Steps To Using Your Ignorance' self-help book.

MG3 - Exclusive Guitar Master Class |

Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to take
part in an exclusive guitar master class with the
Montréal Guitare Trio!
MG3 members will play various pieces, show
examples of their guitar techniques and help
students experiment with their own playing
techniques. The master class will take place on
Thursday, February 19th at 5:00-6:30pm on stage in
the Mary Irwin Theatre.
Intermediate and advanced students are welcome
and the master class registration fee is $20 per
student. Please remember to bring your own guitar as
this is an unplugged event!

Louisiana produces some of the funkiest jazz &
blues musicians in the world, and John Lee Sanders
happens to be one of them. An incredibly talented
musician, John Lee can sit in front of a piano and
transport you from the everyday, to a smoky New
Orleans Cajun bar, then on to a blues club in
Austin, and still further to an uptown Jazz Club in
Manhattan, all in one set.
In his youth, John Lee spent his time immersed in
the wealth of jazz, blues and gospel music. A native
of Louisiana, John Lee now calls British Columbia
home. He has performed his music throughout the
world in festivals and concerts in North & South
America, Australia and Europe.
John Lee has performed with many New Orleans
Legends, including Dr. John, The Meters, Marcia
Ball, Zigaboo Modeliste, King of the New Orleans
Funky Drums, Kirk Joseph and Tuba player of the
Dirty Dozen Brass Band.
In 2004 John Lee was nominated for "Blues Song of
the Year" at the WC Handy Blues Awards and in 2007,
he also received an Emmy nomination for the jazz
ballad "Just One Kiss."

bucket full of blues gumbo at the Mary Irwin Theatre

Danielle Harshenin
"Invoke the Muse"
Call forth the spirit of inspiration...
Danielle Harshenin is a self-taught, contemporary
abstract artist who has called the Okanagan Valley
her home for her entire life. Danielle is captivated
by the diverse rhythm and flow of the world and has
always been compelled to paint from the heart.
Danielle's work will be on display in the Galleria
through February 1st - March 8th and is available
for viewing daily from 8am - 8pm.

Festival
Chatter and Whirr is a winter festival
celebrating artist-run culture in BC. An initiative
of the Pacific Association of Artist-Run Centres
(PAARC), this unique festival connects events in
Kelowna, Victoria and Vancouver scheduled throughout
the month of February.
Chatter and Whirr highlights the best of
alternative culture through exhibition openings,
festive cultural happenings and province-wide
discussions, setting the tone for artist-run culture
in BC.
The festival kicks off in Kelowna with Chatter &
Whirr Unleashed, a music and media arts festival and
the first in a series of licensed events hosted by
the Alternator, Kelowna's only artist-run centre.
On Saturday February 7 from 9pm-3am the RCA
Atrium will be transformed into a nightclub
experience with interactive media-based visual art
(audio, video, 3D, lights, performance) and local
musical guest Djs.

Call for Children's Art Supplies!

Is your craft cupboard overflowing with supplies you
no longer use? If so, we have the perfect solution
for you...
As the demand for Youth Arts Education Programming
continues to grow, the need for children's art
supplies has also increased. The Rotary Centre for
the Arts is asking our readers to help youth in our
community by donating any new or unused arts and
craft supplies to the RCA.
Items can include glue, glue guns, beads,
scissors, crayons, markers, Christmas craft
supplies, fabric, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, bells,
ribbons & lace or other craft supplies.
Donated art supplies are instrumental in keeping
the costs of Youth Arts Education Programming down
and accessible to all. We would like to thank all of
our past donors for their kind support and any
future donors for their thoughtful consideration.
If you are interested in donating children's art
