The Shakespeare Show
Or; How an illiterate son of a Glover
became the Greatest Playwright in the World

Event: The Shakespeare Show
Date: January 13-16th, 2010 at 8:00 PM
Matinee: Thursday, January 14th at 12:00 PM

"Wildly funny, wonderfully crafted and brilliantly acted - Flawless!"
- CBC

Monster Theatre's Artistic Director Ryan Gladstone wrote this play entirely in iambic pentameter and almost completely in rhyming couplets. If you have a love for language, physical comedy and intelligent wit, you'll understand The Shakespeare Show, even if you don't know any Shakespeare!

This play ponders the great debate: Was The Bard a front for another writer - perhaps the real author was Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford? Pro & con Shakespeare scholars have been split on the authorship issue for decades. "I'm totally torn myself", says Ryan Gladstone, author/actor of The Shakespeare Show "It makes the play even more fun to do".

Another "relentlessly clever, action-packed and intellectually satisfying" Monster Theatre adventure, complete with puppets, songs, satire and swordfights. Through a series of fast-paced switch-up skits between two actors, the audience is introduced to some 40 characters who cavort and swordfight across the stage.

It's a fast-paced, physical, and fun play with numerous hidden and obvious references to Shakespeare plays. The actors take pains to involve and engage the audience. Even if you don't know Shakespeare - you will find this show clever and very funny!

Tickets are $30 per adult or $10 per student and can be purchased online at Select Your Tickets, by visiting the RCA Box Office, or by calling 250-717-5304. To learn more about the '09-10 Sunshine Theatre Season click here.
