Light and Metal is on the road with Made in BC and is coming to the Rotary Centre for the Arts!
Featuring SURGE, presented by MovEnt and bANGER, presented by Tara Cheyenne Performance, Light and Metal is a powerful double bill of innovative dance/theatre performances.
Choreographed by Day Helesic, SURGE is a construct of bold movement, industrial sounscape and electric emotion that scrutinizes the power of physical industry. Moving hard and intensely in a constant current of fierce physicality, five dancers discover what powers them and what gives them power. Through dogged determination and enduring effort, SURGE discovers the costs and rewards of that power in all of its incarnations.
Joining MovEnt, the Tara Cheyenne Performance presents bANGER: The Power Hour, an examination of social alienation as perceived through the lens of a head banging teenager. A dance/theatre hybrid performance, bANGER sheds light on the social reject and reconciles the differences between us and him.
In 2005, bANGER was the winner of the People's Choice Award at the Dancing on the Edge Festival. It was also listed as one of the Vancouver Sun's best shows of 2006 and represented Canada at the London International Festival of Theatre in 2008. Audiences of all ages and backgrounds don't need to know about metal to be blown away by bANGER.
Tickets can be purchased online at Select Your Tickets, by visiting the RCA Box Office, or by calling (250) 717-5304. For more information on Light and Metal visit www.movent.ca or www.taracheyenne.com
