In the midst of a lot of gimmicky fusion, Tambura Rasa stands out as a group that has formed a worthwhile synthesis of music from many cultures.
After joining forces with numerous ethnic musicians and dancers, Tambura Rasa's music has developed into a diverse style of gypsy-world-fusion that weaves a tapestry of lively danceable melodies, complete with belly dancers and fiery flamenco.
With dozens of styles to pull from, Tambura Rasa has gained increasing popularity for its signature blend of gypsy violin, flamenco guitar, Cuban percussion, Indian tablas, and ability to serve up a colourful odyssey through the music of ancient and present-day cultures.
Tambura Rasa will heat things up in the Atrium at the Rotary Centre for the Arts on Thursday, May 28th at 5:30pm. Following the performance, guests are welcome to stick around for our popular Salsa Thursday event starting at 8pm in the Atrium.
Tickets are $20 per adult / $10 per student and can be purchased through Ticketmaster, by visiting the Rotary Centre for the Arts Box Office, or by calling (250) 717-5304. To learn more about Tambura Rasa visit www.tamburarasa.com
