Karen Krout
is an experienced violinist and teacher with 35 years of experience
teaching in the private studio, at the University Level, in the public
schools, and in Suzuki programs. She has 25 years of experience as a
professional musician in orchestras and chamber ensembles, most recently
with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, as Assistant Concertmaster. Since
moving to
Kelowna
in 2003, she plays with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra as an sessional
musician, and in several chamber ensembles. Krout joined the Violin
Faculty at KCMS in the summer of 2003, and teaches traditionally, as well
as in the Suzuki Talent Education method. Her BA with a major in Music and
English is from the
University
of
Great Falls
; the Master of Music is from
Washington
University
in
St. Louis
, and she earned a PhD in Fine Arts, with a major in violin performance,
from
Texas
Tech
University
. She is certified as a Suzuki teacher through the Suzuki Association of
the
Americas
to level VI. Krout teaches private and Suzuki group violin on Wednesdays
& Thursdays at the School.
